Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup 60 ml

Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup belongs to the class of medicines called 'expectorants' used in the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cough associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely: dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways. 

Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup is a combination of three drugs, namely Levosalbutamol sulphate (bronchodilator), Ambroxol hydrochloride (mucolytic agent), and Guaiphenesin (expectorant). Levosalbutamol sulphate works by relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic drug that thins and loosens phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. It also thins and softens coughs and sputum, facilitating simple coughing out as a result. Guaiphenesin works by increasing the volume of fluid in the airways, reducing the stickiness of mucus, and helping to remove it from the airways.

Use Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup as prescribed. Your doctor will suggest the dose and how often your child needs Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup based on his/her medical condition. Sometimes, Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, headache, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult a doctor.

Do not use Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients in Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup. If your child is suffering from fits or has a history of fits, please inform your doctor before using this medicine, as it may increase the risk of recurrent fits. If you have diabetes, fits, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, stomach ulcers, phenylketonuria (a birth defect that causes accumulation of amino acid, phenylalanine in the body), kidney, liver or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup.

Use Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup as advised by the doctor. Shake the bottle well before use. Give the prescribed dose to your child by mouth using the measuring cup or dropper provided with the pack.

Do not use Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients in Ibikof-LS Cherry Syrup. • Avoid dairy products such as milk as it may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods. Instead, replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, French fries, sugary desserts and chips with green leafy vegetables.
• Give your child plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat while he or she has a cough. It also helps loosen mucus.
• Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough. Give fruits rich in water content, such as pears, watermelon, peaches and pineapples to your child.
• Avoid contact with known allergens (allergy-causing agents) such as pollen, dust, etc. Certain food items are known to cause allergies to your child.
