About Happicid Gel
Happicid Gel belongs to a group of medicines called antacids used to treat acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and stomach upset. The stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity and heartburn.
Happicid Gel is a combination of four drugs: Aluminium hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide, Oxetacaine and Simethicone. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide belong to a group of antacids, whereas oxetacaine belongs to local anaesthetics. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Oxetacaine exerts a numbing effect, thereby provides relief from pain due to ulcers or acidic injury in the stomach. Simethicone is anti-flatulent which works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitates the expulsion of gas through flatus or belching (burping).
Take Happicid Gel as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Happicid Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. You may experience certain common side-effects such as constipation, diarrhoea, dizziness, and drowsiness in some cases. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Do not take Happicid Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Happicid Gel should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Happicid Gel as it could lead to increased acidity. Happicid Gel may cause dizziness and drowsiness, do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert. Inform your doctor regarding other prescription, non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking to prevent any side-effects/interactions.
