Happi - M Capsule belongs to a group of gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used to treat acidity, indigestion, heartburn and peptic ulcers. Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (esophagus); this causes acidity and heartburn. Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.
Happi - M Capsule is a combination of two drugs: Rabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Mosapride (prokinetic agent). Rabeprazole works by blocking an enzyme called the gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Mosapride works by accelerating the gastric emptying time, increasing the food pipe, intestine, and stomach's movement. It also increases the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing the backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Together, Happi - M Capsule helps prevent acid reflux, thereby providing relief from dyspepsia (indigestion and abdominal pain), acidity, and heartburn.
Take Happi - M Capsule as prescribed. You are advised to take Happi - M Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, flatulence, headache, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, and flu-like symptoms. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Inform your doctor before taking Happi - M Capsule if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. On long-term treatment, Happi - M Capsule may cause osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, spine, and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels). Do not take Happi - M Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Happi - M Capsule should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Happi - M Capsule may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol and Happi - M Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production.

It also increases the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing the backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Besides this, it also facilitates the intestine's movement, thereby increasing the frequency of bowel movements, softening stools, and reducing abdominal discomfort and pain. Mosapride enhanced the acid-inhibitory effect of PPIs such as Rabeprazole. Collectively, Happi - M Capsule helps prevent acid reflux, thereby providing relief from acidity, heartburn, and dyspepsia (indigestion and abdominal pain).
Do not take Happi - M Capsule if you are allergic to any of its contents, have a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, porphyria (liver disorder) and cardiac impairment. Inform your doctor before taking Happi - M Capsule if you have stomach pain, indigestion, vomiting food or blood or if you pass black stools, have severe liver or kidney problems, if you are due to have Chromogranin A test. Do not take Happi - M Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Happi - M Capsule should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Happi - M Capsule should be used with extreme caution in elderly patients since the risk of side effects is high. Happi - M Capsule may cause osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones) and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels) on long-term treatment, the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition. Prolonged intake of PPIs or proton pump inhibitors like Rabeprazole may cause brittle bones so intake of Vitamin D and calcium can be additionally given by your doctor while using Happi - M Capsule . Happi - M Capsule may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Happi - M Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.
Drug-Drug Interactions: Happi - M Capsule may have interaction with a pain killer (ibuprofen, diclofenac, aspirin, naproxen), anti-depressant (duloxetine, amitriptyline), blood thinner (clopidogrel, heparin, warfarin), a drug used to treat hypothyroidism (levothyroxine), anti-HIV (atazanavir, nelfinavir), anti-fungal (ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole, posaconazole), anti-cancer (methotrexate), vitamin (cyanocobalamin), medicines to help you to sleep or feel more relaxed (diazepam, zolpidem).
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn. Happi - M Capsule may have interaction with St.John’s wort (herbal supplement used to treat depression).
Drug-Disease Interactions: Happi - M Capsule may have interactions with gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal obstruction, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD), liver disease, bone fractures, hypomagnesemia (low levels of magnesium).
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, acidity, heartburn and peptic ulcers. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn and acidity. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.
