Gumloc Gel belongs to a class of drugs called 'antiseptic' primarily used to treat gum problems like swollen, bleeding, spongy, or loose gums. Besides this, Gumloc Gel is used to treat mouth ulcers, pyorrhoea (a severe gum infection that destroys jawbone and loosens teeth), gingivitis (gum inflammation), or Vincent’s disease (dirty grey ulceration of the mucus membranes).
Gumloc Gel is a combination of three drugs, namely: Tannic acid (astringent), Zinc chloride (hemostatic agent and astringent), and Cetrimide (antiseptic). Tannic acid is an astringent and protein that helps to contract skin cells, thereby healing and relieving irritation due to mouth ulcers. Zinc chloride is a hemostatic agent with astringent properties that prevent bleeding and toughen the skin. Cetrimide is an antibacterial that works by preventing microbe growth (bacteria) that could infect broken skin in the mouth.
Use Gumloc Gel as advised by your dentist. Your doctor will advise you how often you take Gumloc Gel based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience irritation at the site of the application. Most of these side effects of Gumloc Gel do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Gumloc Gel or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you have asthma, blood clotting disorders, or digestive system problems (ulcers), inform your doctor before taking Gumloc Gel. Gumloc Gel is for external (dental) use only. Avoid contact of Gumloc Gel with nose, ears, mouth, or eyes. In case Gumloc Gel comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, please inform your doctor before taking Gumloc Gel. Avoid using Gumloc Gel in large amounts or use for a longer time than recommended as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects.
Gumloc Gel is a combination of three drugs, Tannic acid, Zinc chloride, and Cetrimide, which are used to treat gum problems. Tannic acid is an astringent (contracts body tissues) that works by precipitating the proteins that contract skin cells. Thus, it helps in healing and relieves irritation due to mouth ulcers. Zinc chloride is a hemostatic agent with astringent properties that stop bleeding and toughen the skin. Cetrimide belongs to the class of antiseptics that works by preventing the growth of fungi and bacteria that could infect broken skin in the mouth.

Gingivitis is associated with inflammation (redness and swelling) of gums caused by a bacterial infection. It may occur when food and plaque (a thin film of bacteria) get trapped in the space between the tooth and surrounding gum tissue. Symptoms include puffy, swollen, or tender gums, bleeding in the gum while brushing, bad breath, or receding gums (gums pull back from tooth surface).
Mouth ulcers: They are also known as small canker sores, painful lesions that develop in the mouth or gum's base. These can make you uncomfortable while eating, drinking, and talking. Mouth ulcers usually heal within a few weeks and are not contagious.
Pyorrhoea: It is also known as periodontitis which can lead to loss of the tooth. It’s usually caused due to poor oral hygiene. The symptoms include red, swollen, or tender gums.
