Genticyn 20 mg Injection 2 ml is an antibiotic that treats severe/serious bacterial infections. It contains Gentamicin which works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thus inhibiting bacterial growth. It shows a bacteriostatic effect, which stops bacterial reproduction but doesn't kill them. Genticyn 20 mg Injection 2 ml is useful in treating recurrent infections of kidneys, urinary ducts and bladder, lungs and airways infections during hospitalization, infections of the skin and soft tissues, including burns, and sepsis (blood poisoning by bacteria).

Drug-Drug Interaction: Genticyn 20 mg Injection 2 ml may interact with antibiotics (amikacin, cefixime, clindamycin, polymyxin B, vancomycin), antifungals (amphotericin B), anticancer drugs (cisplatin), water pills (furosemide), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (indomethacin, ibuprofen), skeletal muscle relaxants (tubocurarine), myasthenia gravis medicines (neostigmine), and HIV drugs (zalcitabine).
