About Frisium 5 Tablet

Frisium 5 Tablet is used to treat epilepsy (fits) and severe anxiety over a short period. Also, Frisium 5 Tablet is used in combination with other medicines to treat schizophrenia (a mental illness). Epilepsy (fits) is a disorder in which there is a sudden, uncontrolled disturbance in the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain. Anxiety is a mental health disorder associated with fear, worry and excessive nervousness. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave clearly.

Frisium 5 Tablet works by increasing the release of GABA (a chemical messenger that acts as a nerve-calming agent) in the brain by acting on GABA receptors. Thereby, Frisium 5 Tablet prevents fits by stabilizing the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain. Also, Frisium 5 Tablet calms nerve cells and helps in reducing anxiety and induces sleep.

Take Frisium 5 Tablet as prescribed. Your doctor will advise how often you take Frisium 5 Tablet based on your medical condition. Some people may experience restlessness, irritability, drowsiness, constipation, aggressive behaviour, tiredness or breathing problems. Most of these side effects of Frisium 5 Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Frisium 5 Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Frisium 5 Tablet is not recommended for children below 6 years of age. Directions for Use

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction: Frisium 5 Tablet may have interaction with high blood pressure-lowering medicines (nebivolol), pain killers (dihydrocodeine, morphine, codeine), antifungal drug (fluconazole), antipsychotics (pimozide, haloperidol, clozapine, chlorpromazine), sleeping pills (zolpidem), epilepsy or fits related drugs (phenytoin, clonazepam, carbamazepine, valproic acid, levetiracetam, lamotrigine, pregabalin), antidepressants (paroxetine, fluvoxamine, trazodone), antihistamines/antiallergics (diphenhydramine, chlorphenamine, promethazine), anti-anxiety drugs (lorazepam, diazepam, temazepam).

Drug-Food Interaction: Frisium 5 Tablet may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid intake of alcohol while taking Frisium 5 Tablet as it may increase side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness or difficulty in concentrating.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Do not take Frisium 5 Tablet if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), sleep apnoea (breathing stops and starts repeatedly), breathing or liver problems.
