About Fexicef-D Tablet

Fexicef-D Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called antibiotics used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ears, nose, throat, chest, and lungs. Bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Fexicef-D Tablet does not work against infections caused by the virus.

Fexicef-D Tablet combines two antibiotics (Cefixime, Dicloxacillin) and one probiotic (Lactobacillus).  Cefixime and Dicloxacillin work by interfering with forming the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) necessary for their survival. Thereby, damaging the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria. Lactobacillus belongs to the class of probiotics (live microorganisms that keeps the body healthy) that help to restore good bacteria in the intestines. Thus, it prevents diarrhea and loss of beneficial bacteria due to prolonged intake of Fexicef-D Tablet.

Take Fexicef-D Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Fexicef-D Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, stomach pain, indigestion, gas, headache, or vaginal itching. Most of these side effects of Fexicef-D Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Fexicef-D Tablet, penicillin, or other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Fexicef-D Tablet. Dicloxacillin may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Therefore, discuss other contraceptive methods with your doctor, such as using non-hormonal birth control measures that include condoms, spermicide, or diaphragm to avoid pregnancy while taking Fexicef-D Tablet. Directions for Use

Take Fexicef-D Tablet with or without food as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Do not take Fexicef-D Tablet while going to bed or lying down to prevent stomach irritation or heartburn.

Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Certain fermented foods like cheese, yogurt, kombucha, sauerkraut, and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include fiber-rich foods, as they can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains such as whole-grain bread and brown rice should be included in your diet.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of water or other fluids every day while you are taking Fexicef-D Tablet.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase adverse effects.
