Favisyn Tablet belongs to a group of antiviral medicines used to treat coronavirus disease. It is also indicated for the treatment of influenza, ebola, and other pathogenic viral infections. Coronavirus disease, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2), is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus.
Favisyn Tablet contains ‘Favipiravir’, which inhibits RNA polymerase, an enzyme that helps the coronavirus replicate itself. Thus, Favisyn Tablet lowers the virus load in the body and helps treat the infection.
You are advised to take Favisyn Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, hyperuricemia (elevated uric acid), reduced neutrophil count, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. You are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Do not take Favisyn Tablet if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Favisyn Tablet. Use effective contraception during and for seven days after the treatment with Favisyn Tablet. Seek medical help immediately if you have a severe cough, fever, or difficulty breathing. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Favisyn Tablet may interact with anti-TB (pyrazinamide), hyperglycaemic agent (repaglinide), methylxanthines (theophylline), anti-viral (famciclovir, acyclovir), NSAID (sulindac).
