About Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml

Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml belongs to a class of chemotherapy drugs used to treat various cancer conditions, including testicular tumours or cancer of the testicles, lung cancer (small cell lung cancer; SCLC). Besides this, it can also be used in treating Monoblastic leukaemia (AML M5) and acute myelomonoblastic leukaemia (AML M4). Cancer is a genetic change in which our cells divide uncontrollably and spread into surrounding tissues.

Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml contains Etoposide, which is a podophyllotoxin derivative. It works by inhibiting an enzyme responsible for cancer cell proliferation and induces cell death (apoptosis). As a result, the growth and spread of cancer cells are stopped or slowed down.

Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml will be administered by a qualified healthcare professional. Sometimes, Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml may use certain side effects such as myelosuppression (bone marrow activity is decreased), leucopenia (reduction in the number of white cells in the blood), thrombocytopenia (deficiency of platelets), anaemia (deficiency of red cells), anorexia (lack or loss of appetite for food), fatigue (extreme tiredness), drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, alopecia, liver and kidney functional impairment, leukaemia, hypotension, haemorrhage, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, stomatitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane), hepatic dysfunction and increased bilirubin levels etc. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. Drug Warnings

Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml is not recommended to use if you are allergic to etoposide, podophyllotoxines or podophyllotoxin-derivatives or any other ingredients of this medicine; If your liver is not working properly; If your bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells; If you are breast-feeding; If you have a weak immune system and you are being vaccinated against yellow fever at the same time. So, inform your doctor about your medical history and ongoing therapies. Etoposide can significantly reduce the number of blood cells in your bone marrow. Before and during your therapy, your doctor will prescribe laboratory testing on a regular basis. A decrease in the number of blood cells in your body might produce symptoms and raise your chance of developing a serious infection or bleeding. If you notice any of the following symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml may interact with anti-coagulants (e.g. warfarin), immunosuppressants (e.g. cyclosporine), other anti-cancer medications(e.g. cisplatin), live vaccines (e.g. yellow fever), a medicine used in the treatment of epilepsy (e.g. phenytoin) and medicines used to treat inflammation, mild to moderate pain, and fever (e.g. phenylbutazone, sodium salicylate, acetylsalicylic acid).

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Etopxel 100 Injection 5 ml may interact with disease conditions, including Myelosuppression (decrease in bone marrow activity), active infections, and renal dysfunction.
