About Epidosin Tablet

Epidosin Tablet belongs to the class of medications called ‘antispasmodic agents’ used in the treatment of pain and spasms (muscle contraction) associated with various conditions such as dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps), postoperative intestinal spasms, visceral spasms (pain due to damage of internal organs), gastrointestinal spasm (pain due to muscle straining for expelling gas out of the body), tenesmus (constant urge to defecate), urinary colic (presence of kidney stones), biliary colic (presence of gallbladder stones), and cervical dilation during labour (widening of the cervix to facilitate childbirth).

Epidosin Tablet contains ‘valethamate bromide’, which belongs to the class of ‘spasmolytics or antispasmodic agents. It is an anticholinergic and works by blocking the effect of acetylcholine (constricts muscle). Epidosin Tablet dilates the smooth muscles present in the intestine and cervix, thus resulting in a reduction of spasms.

Epidosin Tablet should be taken as advised by your doctor. You may experience certain common side effects such as headache, stomach upset, blurred vision, constipation, difficulty swallowing, and irregular heart rate. These side effects usually disappear without any medical attention. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Do not take $nmae if you are allergic to it or any ingredients present in it. Liver and kidney disease patients should maintain caution while taking Epidosin Tablet . Epidosin Tablet contains ‘valethamate bromide’, which belongs to the class of ‘spasmolytics or antispasmodic agents. It is an anticholinergic drug and works by blocking the effect of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a chemical messenger present in the body that causes spasms or muscle contractions. Epidosin Tablet dilates the smooth muscles present in the intestine and cervix, thus resulting in a reduction of spasms.

Directions for Use

Your doctor determines the dose and duration of the medicine. Swallow the medicines as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. You can take it with or without food. Take the medication at a fixed time every day. Do not abruptly stop the medication even if your symptoms get better.

Drug Interactions

Drug-drug interactions: Epidosin Tablet may interact with antihistamines, phenothiazide antipsychotics, and a medication used to treat Parkinson’s disease (a brain disorder). It may antagonize the effects of medications used to treat nausea and vomiting (domperidone and metoclopramide).

Drug-food interactions: Avoid the consumption of alcohol as it can cause serious adverse effects. 

Drug-disease interactions: Epidosin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver and kidney failure, narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye), enlarged prostate gland, inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal system (gut), blockage in the small intestine (pyloric stenosis), and tachyarrhythmia (rapid heart rate).

  • Exercising regularly helps in muscle stretching so that they are less likely to spasm, tear and sprain. Mild exercises such as jogging and walking are helpful for muscle stretching.
  • Massages can also be helpful.
  • Avoid freezing and hot temperatures. Also, try to avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes, instead, wear loose garments
  • Rest well and get plenty of sleep. Always, stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
  • To avoid developing pressure sores, change your position at least every two hours.
  • Hot or cold therapy can help treat muscle spasms. Apply an ice pack or hot pack on the muscle for 15-20 minutes.
