Empaone 10 Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone cannot control their blood sugar levels. About Empaone 10 Tablet

Empaone 10 Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone cannot control their blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes is a condition where the body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin that it makes does not work properly.

Empaone 10 Tablet contains empagliflozin, which works by blocking the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) enzyme in the kidney's proximal tubules. It lowers renal reabsorption of glucose and increases urine excretion of glucose via inhibiting SGLT2. As a result, it lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Take Empaone 10 Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Empaone 10 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as thrush, pain or a burning feeling when you pee, peeing more than normal, and mild skin rash or itchy skin. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

What if I have taken an overdose of Empaone 10 Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Empaone 10 Tablet as it may cause overdose resulting in low blood sugar. The symptoms include sweating, shaking or trembling, feeling hungry, difficulty concentrating and confusion. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

How does the drug interact with Empaone 10 Tablet:
Coadministration of Empaone 10 Tablet with Gatifloxacin may sometimes affect blood glucose levels. Both high blood glucose and, less frequently, low blood glucose have been reported.

How to manage the interaction:
It is not recommended to take Empaone 10 Tablet with Gatifloxacinas it can result in an interaction, but it can be taken if advised by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms such as nervousness, confusion, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tremors, nausea, hunger, weakness, perspiration, palpitation, rapid heartbeat, increased urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger.
