About Elmovel TF Gel

Elmovel TF Gel is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat fungal skin infections. It is used to treat various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, dermatitis, and tinea versicolor (lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs). Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin.

Elmovel TF Gel is a combination of two drugs, namely: Mometasone furoate (corticosteroid) and Terbinafine hydrochloride (antifungal). Mometasone furoate blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Terbinafine hydrochloride works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane (a compound present in the fungi to maintain the cell integrity) and resulting in fungal cell death.

Elmovel TF Gel is for topical (for skin) use only. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Elmovel TF Gel may cause common side effects like skin peeling, itching, irritation, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually do not require medical attention and fade away with time. However, if any of the side effects persist or worsen, please consult a doctor.

Let your doctor know if you are allergic to any of the contents in Elmovel TF Gel. If you are using any other prescription, non-prescription drugs, herbal, and vitamin supplements, please inform your doctor before using Elmovel TF Gel. Do not use Elmovel TF Gel on sensitive areas like nostrils, ears, lips, or genitals. Avoid dressing the infected areas after applying Elmovel TF Gel unless the doctor advised you to do so. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Elmovel TF Gel. Elmovel TF Gel is not approved for use in children below 12 years of age.

Uses of Elmovel TF Gel

Medicinal Benefits

Elmovel TF Gel is used to treat fungal skin infections, such as eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, dermatitis, and tinea versicolor. It effectively treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Terbinafine hydrochloride is an antifungal drug that treats fungal infections by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane (a compound present in the fungi to maintain cell integrity) and thus resulting in fungal cell death.

FAQs

Elmovel TF Gel is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat fungal skin infections. It is used to treat various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, dermatitis, and tinea versicolor (lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs).
Elmovel TF Gel consists of Mometasone furoate and Terbinafine hydrochloride. Mometasone furoate works by blocking prostaglandin's production (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Terbinafine hydrochloride interferes with fungi growth leading to fungal cell death.
Elmovel TF Gel is for topical (for skin) use only. Do not put a bandage or dressing on the affected area while treating with Elmovel TF Gel unless the doctor advised. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, mouth or vagina, rinse with cold water. Do not apply Elmovel TF Gel on open wounds, lesions and blisters.
Please consult your doctor before using Elmovel TF Gel if you have other viral skin infections, diaper rash, diabetes, poor blood circulation, immune system problems, Cushing's disease (high cortisol levels), cataract and glaucoma, heart, liver, and kidney diseases. Let your doctor know if you are allergic to Elmovel TF Gel or any of its components.
Elmovel TF Gel consists of corticosteroid (Mometasone) that can cause a rise in blood sugar levels by suppressing insulin secretion. Hence it is advised to consult your doctor before starting Elmovel TF Gel if you are diabetic.
Elmovel TF Gel is not recommended to use for diaper rash, since it contains a corticosteroid, Mometasone furoate. Your baby's paediatrician may suggest other medications for the treatment of diaper rash.
Elmovel TF Gel, when used for longer periods, can cause thinning and weakening of the skin. Please stop using Elmovel TF Gel and immediately consult your doctor if you notice these symptoms.
Please do not stop using Elmovel TF Gel on your own even if the symptoms are relieved until the full course advised by the doctor is finished.
