Dokay Eye/Ear Drop belongs to the class of combination medications called ‘antibiotics' and 'steroids' used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections and ear infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Dokay Eye/Ear Drop does not work against infections caused by viruses and fungi.
Dokay Eye/Ear Drop is a combination of Chloramphenicol, Dexamethasone, and Polymyxin B. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that acts by interfering with the formation of essential proteins required for bacterial growth. Dexamethasone is a steroid that reduces inflammation and symptoms associated with infection, such as redness and irritation. Polymyxin B is bactericidal, which works by killing the bacterial cell and preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls, which is essential for survival. Together Dokay Eye/Ear Drop prevent the spread of eye and ear infections caused by a wide range of gram-negative bacteria causing eye/ear infections.
You should use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. When used in the eyes, the common side effects are eye discomfort, eye irritation, and a burning sensation in the eye. When used as ear drops, the side effects include mild irritation and temporary ear discomfort. Most of these side effects of Dokay Eye/Ear Drop do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.
