Cotsul 12.5mg Injection belongs to a group of medicines called 'prokinetics and antipsychotics' used to treat gastrointestinal problems like dyspepsia (indigestion), nausea, vomiting and diabetic gastro-paresis when oral therapy is not advisable/feasible. Additionally, Cotsul 12.5mg Injection may also be used to treat psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, vertigo, Tourette’s syndrome, dizziness, irritable bowel syndrome, heartburn, peptic ulcers, and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Cotsul 12.5mg Injection contains 'Levosulpiride', which enhances the contractions in the gut and stomach emptying. Thereby improves food movement through the gastrointestinal tract and treats disorders related to the stomach and intestines. Besides this, Cotsul 12.5mg Injection also works by interfering with the activity of dopamine in the brain, thus improving mood.
Cotsul 12.5mg Injection will be administered by a qualified healthcare professional; do not self-administer. In some cases, Cotsul 12.5mg Injection may cause side effects such as abdominal pain, drowsiness, constipation, weight gain, unusual tiredness and weakness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Inform your doctor if you have gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation. Cotsul 12.5mg Injection is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take Cotsul 12.5mg Injection if you are allergic to any of its components; if you have pheochromocytoma (tumour in the adrenal glands), mania, epilepsy, pituitary gland prolactinoma (tumour of the pituitary gland), breast cancer, or porphyria (blood disorder). Inform your doctor if you have/had gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical blockage/perforations, cerebrovascular problems, heart, kidney, or liver problems. Cotsul 12.5mg Injection is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Cotsul 12.5mg Injection may cause drowsiness; therefore, caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.
Drug-Drug Interactions: Cotsul 12.5mg Injection may interact with centrally acting drugs, anticholinergic drugs, analgesics (pain killers), and narcotics.
