About Colospa Tablet

Colospa Tablet is a class of medicines called 'antispasmodic' (spasm and cramps reliever) agent primarily used to treat inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS), stomach pain due to spasms, cramps, and bloating. Inflammatory bowel syndrome is an umbrella term describing complications that involve chronic inflammation of your digestive tract. Besides this, abdominal spasms are acute condition in which the abdominal muscles (abs), intestine, and stomach contract severely.

Colospa Tablet contains ‘Mebeverine’ that works by blocking calcium channels and muscarinic receptors on the smooth muscle, which cause muscle contraction and pain sensation, thereby stopping sudden muscle contractions (spasms) and reducing abdominal pain caused due by spasms, cramps, and gas formation, bloating, and discomfort.

You are advised to take Colospa Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience skin rash. Most of the side effects of Colospa Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. Please inform your doctor immediately if you experience difficulty in breathing, or swelling of the face, neck, lips, tongue, or throat.

If you are known to be allergic to Colospa Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Colospa Tablet . Colospa Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age. Colospa Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called anti-spasmodic agents. Colospa Tablet is used to reduce and relieve irritable bowel syndrome and abdominal spasmodic pain. Colospa Tablet works by relieving contractions associated with smooth muscles of the abdomen and intestine. It may affect calcium channels, and muscarinic receptors on smooth muscle which cause pain sensation thereby stop sudden muscle contractions (spasms) and help to reduce abdominal pain caused due to spasms, cramps and gas formation, bloating, and discomfort.

Directions for Use

Take Colospa Tablet 20-30minutes prior to food. Swallow Colospa Tablet as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or crush it. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take Colospa Tablet .

Do not take Colospa Tablet if you are allergic to ‘Mebeverine’ or any other contents present in it. If you have had a history of acute porphyria (an enzyme deficiency in blood), heart disease, kidney disease, liver problems, and severe constipation, consult your doctor before taking Colospa Tablet .  Let your doctor know if you use any prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking, including vitamins, and herbal drugs before starting Colospa Tablet . This medicine contains lactose, so inform your doctor if you have an intolerance to any sugars. Colospa Tablet also contains propylene glycol, which may cause alcohol-like symptoms, and the methyl parahydroxybenzoate which may cause delayed allergic reactions, mainly affecting the skin, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic symptoms. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Colospa Tablet . Colospa Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
