About Coftime Syrup
Coftime Syrup belongs to the class of medicines called 'expectorants' primarily used to treat cough associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is a body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely: Dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways.
Coftime Syrup is a combination of four drugs, namely: Ambroxol (mucolytic agent), Desloratadine (antihistamine) Guaifenesin (expectorant), and Menthol (cooling agent). Ambroxol works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. Guaifenesin works by increasing the volume of fluid in the airways, reducing the stickiness of mucus, and helping to remove it from the airways. Desloratadine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. Menthol produces a cooling sensation and provides relief from minor throat irritation.
Take Coftime Syrup as prescribed. You are advised to take Coftime Syrup for as long as your doctor has prescribed it based on your medical condition. Some people may experience drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, and stomach upset. Most of these side effects of Coftime Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Coftime Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using Coftime Syrup. Coftime Syrup is not recommended for children unless advised by a doctor. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Coftime Syrup to loosen mucus. Drive only if you are alert after taking Coftime Syrup as it may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some people. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Coftime Syrup as it might cause increased dizziness.
