Cefix 100 mg Tablet belongs to a group of cephalosporin antibiotics. It is used to treat susceptible organisms (bacteria)-caused infections of the ear, nose, sinuses (sinusitis), throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), chest and lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia) and urinary system (cystitis and kidney infections). Additionally, it is also prescribed to treat uncomplicated gonorrhoea (cervical/urethral).

Cefix 100 mg Tablet contains Cefixime which works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. In turn, Cefix 100 mg Tablet weakens and destroys the bacterial cell wall, leading to death. As a result, Cefix 100 mg Tablet helps to treat bacterial infections.

Cefix 100 mg Tablet should be used under the supervision of a doctor or healthcare professional. Use it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Like all medicines, Cefix 100 mg Tablet may cause some common side effects, including diarrhoea, nausea, loose stools, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, indigestion, and vomiting. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, if the side effects are persistent or you notice any unusual symptoms developing in the child, inform your doctor immediately.

Inform your doctor about your child's entire medical history. Other drugs or supplements should not be combined with Cefix 100 mg Tablet unless prescribed by a doctor. Give this medicine to your child as directed by your physician or as per instructions in the package leaflet. The tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water. It should not be crushed, or chewed.

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Cefix 100 mg Tablet may include severe vomiting and seizures. How does the drug interact with Cefix 100 mg Tablet 10's:
Co-administration of Cefix 100 mg Tablet 10's with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Cefix 100 mg Tablet 10's or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

  • Give plenty of water to the child. Staying hydrated is important, especially when you’re child sick.
  • Eating a broad range of plant-based foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, pulses, and whole grains helps to build a healthy gut microbiome.
  • Avoid feeding too many calcium-enriched foods and drinks because they may interfere with the functioning of Cefix 100 mg Tablet .
