Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml is a combination medication primarily used to treat bacterial eye infections. Bacterial eye infection occurs when pathogenic bacteria enter any eye portion, including the eyeball, conjunctiva, and cornea.
Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml contains Ciprofloxacin and Boric acid. Ciprofloxacin works by suppressing the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA synthesis. Boric acid is an antiseptic. It provides soothing relief from eye irritation and helps to remove air pollutants and foreign materials. Together Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml prevents the spread of eye infections caused by a wide range of gram-negative bacteria causing eye infections.
You are advised to use Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml for as long as your doctor prescribes it. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects, such as discomfort, irritation, and stinging sensation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml is exclusively for Ophthalmic use only, do not take orally or inject. Do not use Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml if you are allergic to any of its components. Talk to your doctor if the irritation persists despite using Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml for a week or if it worsens. Consult your doctor before using Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please do not touch the tip of the dropper to the eye or surrounding areas, as it may contaminate the contents. Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml should be used in children only if prescribed by the doctor.
Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml is a combination of two antibiotics: Ciprofloxacin and Boric acid, primarily used to treat eye bacterial infections (like conjunctivitis). Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of fluoroquinolone that kills bacteria (bactericidal action) by preventing the synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase (II and IV), which is essential for the growth and survival of the bacterial cell. It has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative bacteria (that live in oxygen). Boric acid is an antiseptic. It provides soothing relief from eye irritation and helps to remove air pollutants and foreign materials.
Do not use Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml if you are allergic to any of its components. Before using Cebran Eye Drops 5 ml, inform your doctor if you have vision problems, severe eye pain, glaucoma (high blood pressure), eye damage, or eye surgery. Notify the doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if the infection symptoms persist or worsen after two weeks of treatment.

Bacterial eye infections: Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any part of the eye, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea. Symptoms of an infection include red eye, pain, discharge, watery/dry eyes, swelling, itching, and sensitivity to light. The common bacterial eye infections are conjunctivitis, stye, and keratitis. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is the infection/inflammation of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. A stye is a bump on the eyelid or base of eyelashes. Keratitis is the inflammation of the cornea. It is a common problem in people who wear contact lenses.
