Canesten Vaginal Cream is used to treat vaginal thrush (candidiasis). Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) is an infection of the vagina and/or vulva caused by candida.
Canesten Vaginal Cream comprises clotrimazole, which works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection. Canesten Vaginal Cream eliminates the infection by causing holes in the fungal cell membrane and allows the components to leak out, thus killing the fungus.
Use Canesten Vaginal Cream as recommended by the physician. In some cases, Canesten Vaginal Cream may cause abdominal pain, vulvovaginal pain, nausea, and application site reactions, including itching, burning sensation, and irritation. These side effects of Canesten Vaginal Cream eventually subside without medical intervention. Consult your doctor immediately if any side effects worsen or persist.
Do not use Canesten Vaginal Cream if you are hypersensitive or allergic to any of its components. Canesten Vaginal Cream is for vaginal use only. Do not swallow. If you are pregnant, planning to have a baby, or are a nursing mother, you should not use Canesten Vaginal Cream without a doctor's advice.
