Azifast Gel is an antibiotic used to treat acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition that affects almost everyone at some point in their lives. Acne occurs when the hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells and oil.
Azifast Gel contains azithromycin, which prevents the synthesis of essential nutrients necessary for the survival of the bacteria. Thereby killing the acne-causing bacteria.
Azifast Gel is for external use only. Some people may notice dry skin, a burning sensation, peeling, itching, and redness. Most of these side effects are temporary and will go away on their own. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
Do not use Azifast Gel if you are allergic to azithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin), or any ingredients in this medication. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor. Make sure Azifast Gel does not come into contact with your eyes, nose, or mucous membrane while applying it. If Azifast Gel unintentionally touches these places, properly clean them with water. Azifast Gel should not be given to children and adolescents unless prescribed by the doctor.
