About Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet

Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as 'analgesics' mainly prescribed for the treatment of pain, headaches, muscle pain, minor arthritis pain, and fever or body pain caused by the common cold. Pain is a general term that describes the uncomfortable sensations in the body. The intensity of pain can range from annoying to debilitating, or a sharp stabbing or a dull ache. The possible causes of pain include headache, cramps, toothache, muscle strain or overuse, arthritis, stomach ache. 

Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet contains two medicines, namely: Aspirin and Caffeine. Aspirin belongs to the category of salicylate that works by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) which forms prostaglandins (PGs) that cause swelling, inflammation, pain and fever. On the other hand, Caffeine is a stimulant that works by work by blocking the neurotransmitter known as adenosine, increasing excitability in the brain, thereby relieving headache and enhances the effect of aspirin.

Take Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet with or without food with one glass of water. However, if stomach upset occurs, then take it with milk or food. Swallow the tablets as a whole without crushing or chewing the tablets as it can increase stomach upset. The doctor should suggest the dosage and length of treatment after checking your medical condition and response to treatment. Some persons may experience undesirable effects of Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet that includes getting nervous and excitable, trouble sleeping, stomach pain, or heartburn, upset stomach or throwing up. Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet can cause ulcers and bleeding in your stomach or gut especially if taken for a longer duration so your doctor may suggest you not to take Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet if you have a stomach ulcer or bleeding problems. Do not take in a bleeding disorder like haemophilia and if allergic to aspirin or caffeine or any other pain killers like ibuprofen. You should avoid drinking alcohol, taking pain killers, and the abortion pill (mifepristone) with Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet as it may increase the risk of gastric bleeding and lower the effectiveness of the medication. Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet should not be given in the children and teenagers as it may cause Reye's syndrome (a type of viral infection affecting brain and liver). Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet has the ability to pass into breast milk and can harm the nursing infant, so consult with your doctor if you are breast-feeding mother before taking Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet. The use of Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet is strictly restricted in the last trimester of pregnancy as it can harm the unborn baby. Make sure that your laboratory personnel and doctors know that you are taking this medicine as it may interfere with laboratory tests like urine sugar tests, possibly causing false test results.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Like other medications,  Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet could interact with other medications that include immune-related drugs (cyclosporin, tacrolimus), pain killers ( naproxen, ibuprofen), heart disease-related pills (acetazolamide, digoxin), the abortion pill (mifepristone),  blood thinners (warfarin, heparin, phenindione, clopidogrel),  anti-epilepsy drug (valproate, phenytoin), high blood pressure pills (captopril, metoprolol), an antidepressant (fluoxetine, sertraline, lithium), steroids, gout drug (probenecid), anti-cancer or anti-arthritis drug (methotrexate), anti-diabetic pills (glibenclamide), and osteoporosis-related drug (oral alendronate).

Drug-Food Interaction: Taking Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet along with alcohol, caffeine, and herbal supplements like ‘Ginkgo Biloba’ can affect the working of Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet and potentiate the side effect of this medicine.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Anacin Multipain 400 mg/40 mg Tablet should not be given in patients with blood clotting disorder (haemophilia), bleeding disorder, liver/kidney problem, stomach or intestinal ulcer, von willebrand's disease, asthma, severe heart problems which can cause shortness of breath.
