About Amlosafe 5 Tablet

Amlosafe 5 Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers which are primarily taken for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a lifelong or chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes high. Higher this blood pressure, harder the heart has to pump. 

Amlosafe 5 Tablet contains Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that acts by relaxing the blood vessels. This reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Thus, it helps to lower high blood pressure, reducing the chances of heart attack or stroke.

Take Amlosafe 5 Tablet with or without food as prescribed by your doctor with a full glass of water. Amlosafe 5 Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with other blood pressure lowering medicines depending upon your blood pressure levels. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other anti-hypertensive medicine. You may have common side effects like headache, feeling exhausted and swollen ankles that usually resolve after some time. You must closely monitor your blood pressure if you ever have had a stroke, heart attack or currently taking other blood pressure-lowering pills. •Prevention of heart attacks: Amlosafe 5 Tablet prevents heart attacks by widening blood vessels, improving blood flow to the heart, and lowering blood pressure.

Directions for Use

Amlosafe 5 Tablet can be taken orally with or without food or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the whole tablet with approximately a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. Try to take it at the same day every day. Do not double the dose if missed.

The consumption of grapefruit juice with Amlosafe 5 Tablet may slightly increase plasma concentrations of Amlosafe 5 Tablet. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while being treated with Amlosafe 5 Tablet. however, if you experience headache, hypotension, syncope, tachycardia, or edema consult a doctor.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Keep your weight under control with BMI 19.5-24.9.
  • Do regular physical activity or exercise for at least 150 minutes per week, or about 30 minutes most days of the week. Doing this can help you to lower your raised blood pressure by about 5 mm of Hg.
  • Opt for diet rich in whole grains, fruits, veggies and low-fat dairy products.
  • Limit intake of sodium chloride (table salt) in your daily diet to 2300 mg per day or less than 1500 mg is ideal for most adults.
  • If you are taking alcohol then only one serving for women and two servings for men is advisable.
  • Quitting smoking is the best strategy to lower the risk of heart disease.
  • Avoid chronic stress as it can raise your blood pressure. Try to enjoy and spent time with your loved ones to cope with stress and practice mindfulness techniques.
  • Monitor your blood pressure daily and if there is too much of fluctuation then immediately contact your doctor.
