Ambcet Syrup is used to treat Cough and allergic reactions (allergic conjunctivitis, eczema, hay fever, insect bite reactions, hives, urticaria, etc.). An allergy is an immune system response to foreign elements typically not harmful to your body. These foreign elements are known as ‘allergens’. Allergic condition varies from person to person. Some might be allergic to certain foods and seasonal allergies like hay fever. While others might be allergic to pollen or pet dander. One of the symptoms of allergy is cough. Coughing occurs as a reflex action in the throat when there is mucus or any other foreign irritant in it.
Cetirizine belongs to a class of drugs called antihistamines or anti-allergics. It blocks the effects of a chemical messenger known as ‘histamine’, which is naturally involved in allergic reactions. It helps to provide relief from symptoms of allergy such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, and congestion or stiffness. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.
Ambcet Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. In some cases, you may experience tiredness, sleepiness, dry mouth etc. Most of these side effects of Ambcet Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Consume only if the doctor prescribes it. Never encourage self-medication or suggest your medicine to someone else. Inform your doctor before taking Ambcet Syrup if you are allergic to cetirizine or ambroxol, have severe liver or kidney problems, or have epilepsy. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant or currently breastfeeding or taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medicines.
When you take Cetirizine in Ambcet Syrup, it temporarily relieves allergic reactions and symptoms by blocking histamine action (a substance that causes immune responses and inflammations in the body). It helps to relieve symptoms of allergies such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, and congestion or stiffness. Ambroxol also has a mucolytic action, which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.
Please inform your doctor if you are experiencing any urinary retention after taking Ambcet Syrup. Also, you should tell your doctor if you are taking midodrine for the treatment of low blood pressure and ritonavir for HIV infection. Inform your doctor before taking Ambcet Syrup if you are allergic to cetirizine or ambroxol, have severe liver or kidney problems, or have epilepsy. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant or currently breast-feeding or taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medicines.
