Altopraz-O Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat acidity, nausea, and vomiting. It may also be indicated in conditions such as indigestion, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, chronic gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and ulcers of the stomach and duodenum.

Altopraz-O Tablet contains Pantoprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Ondansetron (anti-emetic). Pantoprazole reduces the production of stomach acid and provides relief from acidity-related conditions. Ondansetron works by inhibiting the action of serotonin, a chemical messenger that triggers nausea and vomiting.

Sometimes, Altopraz-O Tablet may cause side effects such as diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, and abdominal pain. These side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Do not take Altopraz-O Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform the doctor if you have/had low magnesium levels in the blood or electrolyte imbalance, low bone mineral density or bone problems, lupus, stomach or intestinal blockage, heart, kidney, or liver problems. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Let the doctor know if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal products and supplements.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Inform the doctor if you are taking anti-depressants (duloxetine, escitalopram), diuretics (furosemide), lipid-lowering agents (atorvastatin), blood thinners (clopidogrel), or hormone (levothyroxine).

• Eat smaller meals more often.
• Drink fluids to stay hydrated.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increasing acidity and heartburn.
• Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.
• Avoid lying down immediately after eating, as it might trigger acidity.
• Avoid tight-fitting clothes as they may create pressure in the abdomen and might force food and acid in your stomach into the oesophagus.
• Practise relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
• Limit foods such as high-fat, spicy chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda. 
• Do not sit continuously, as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5 minutes every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.

Acidity: A mucous layer typically protects the stomach from acid. Excess acid production can erode the mucous layer, resulting in complications such as GERD, acidity, and peptic ulcers. Symptoms include heartburn, a sour or bitter taste, and difficulty swallowing.

Nausea and vomiting: Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which the person feels an urge to vomit, whereas vomiting is an uncontrollable reflex that expels the stomach's contents through the mouth. Nausea and vomiting may occur separately or together. The common causes include motion sickness, emotional stress, indigestion, food poisoning, high fever or overeating.
