About Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment

Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment is used to treat allergic eye inflammations. It relieves symptoms like eye-watering, itching, redness and irritation by suppressing the immune cell response.

Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment contains Tacrolimus, which works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory chemicals by specific immune cells (T lymphocytes).

In some cases, Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment may cause side effects such as foreign body sensation in the eye, burning sensation, and blurred vision. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Uses of Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment

Treatment of Eye inflammation

Directions for Use

Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.

Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment is used to treat eye inflammation Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment contains Tacrolimus, which has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity. It works by acting on certain cells in the immune system. Thereby, it helps treat eye inflammation. This medicine may be indicated in conditions such as severe atopic blepharoconjunctivitis (inflammation of eyelid and conjunctiva), intractable allergic conjunctivitis (eye inflammation caused by allergy), giant papillary conjunctivitis (allergic reaction of the eye), corneal graft rejection, vernal keratoconjunctivitis (allergic inflammation of the conjunctiva) and atopic keratoconjunctivitis (inflammatory disease of the eye). Consult your doctor if you do not see any improvement even after two weeks of treatment with Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment.

What if I have taken an overdose of Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment

Due to low expected systemic passage of Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment, overdose is not likely. However, the risk of overdose cannot be excluded. In case of overdose, rinse with water or 0.9% normal saline water. Call your doctor or get medical care right away.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Acromus 0.1% Eye Ointment if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform the doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, diabetes, blood coagulation problems, heart problems, infections, allergic reactions, red eye or tearing. Avoid sunlight (UV) exposure and consumption of grapefruit juice. Do not touch the tip of the container to prevent contamination. Let the doctor know if you are using any other medicines.

  • Wash your hands regularly. Avoid touching the eyes with dirty hands. 
  • Avoid rubbing the eyes.
  • Avoid sharing eye makeup such as eyeliner, mascara or kohl.
  • Always use clean towels or tissues to wipe your eyes and face.
  • Regularly wash and change the pillowcases.
  • If you wear contact lenses, clean and replace contact lenses more often. Never share contact lenses. Remember to wash your hands before inserting and after removing the contact lens. 
  • Avoid staring at the digital screens for longer durations. Rest your eyes for every 20 minutes.
  • Blink regularly as it helps in the spread of hydrating substances such as mucus and tears across the eyes.
