TIOCONAZOLE is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections caused due to fungi and yeast. It is mainly used in the treatment of vaginal infections, such as vaginal candidiasis. It is a fungal infection of the vagina and tissues at the opening of the vagina vulva. Symptoms may include irritation, discharge and intense itchiness of the vagina and the vulva tissues at the vaginal opening.
TIOCONAZOLE contains Tioconazole, which blocks certain enzymes essential for the growth of infectious organisms (fungi/yeast).
TIOCONAZOLE may cause common side effects like application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, redness, and vaginal pain. The side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. TIOCONAZOLE is a topical preparation. It should be applied as advised by your doctor.
TIOCONAZOLE should be avoided if you are allergic to it. This medicine is for vaginal use only. Do not apply TIOCONAZOLE in the nose, eyes, or mouth. In case of accidental contact, rinse with plenty of water. Do not start treatment with TIOCONAZOLE during menstruation, as the medicament of TIOCONAZOLE will be washed off with blood flow. The treatment should be finished before the onset of menstruation. Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicide or other vaginal products while using TIOCONAZOLE. TIOCONAZOLE is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.

The vagina naturally contains a balanced mix of yeast, including candida and bacteria. An overgrowth of candida or penetration of the fungus into deeper vaginal cell layers causes infection.
