About Tiostat Gel

Tiostat Gel is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections caused due to fungi and yeast. It is mainly used in the treatment of vaginal infections, such as vaginal candidiasis. It is a fungal infection of the vagina and tissues at the opening of the vagina vulva. Symptoms may include irritation, discharge and intense itchiness of the vagina and the vulva tissues at the vaginal opening.

Tiostat Gel contains Tioconazole, which blocks certain enzymes essential for the growth of infectious organisms (fungi/yeast).

Tiostat Gel may cause common side effects like application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, redness, and vaginal pain. The side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. Tiostat Gel is a topical preparation. It should be applied as advised by your doctor.

Tiostat Gel should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Tell your doctor about your complete medication history, including prescription and non-prescription drugs you are using, including vitamins and herbal products. It is for vaginal use only. Before applying Tiostat Gel, inform your doctor if you are diabetic, have a weak immune system, have an HIV infection, have a vaginal infection often once a month/ 3-6 months, or any other serious underlying medical condition. Directions for Use

Vaginal Cream: Use Tiostat Gel as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the leaflet for complete information before applying it. Remove the applicator and plunger from the packet. Place the plunger into the open end of the applicator. Then, remove the cap of the applicator without pushing the plunger, as it can make the gel come out. For inserting the applicator into the vagina, lie back with knees drawn up and place the applicator deep in the vagina. Now, slowly push the plunger of the applicator to deliver the medicament. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after each use.

Drug Warnings

Avoid Tiostat Gel if you are allergic to it or any other medicines of the same class. Do not start treatment with Tiostat Gel during menstruation, as the medicament of Tiostat Gel will be washed off with blood flow. The treatment should be finished before the onset of menstruation. Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicide or other vaginal products while using Tiostat Gel. Tiostat Gel is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.
