About GEFFON 250MG TABLET

GEFFON 250MG TABLET belongs to the group of medicine called ‘anti-cancer’, primarily indicated in lung cancer treatment. Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in one or both lungs. These abnormal cells do not carry out normal lung cell functions and do not develop into healthy lung tissue. In this disease, cells of the lung grow uncontrollably, and if not detected at an early stage may spread to other body parts, including the brain.

GEFFON 250MG TABLET contains 'Gefitinib' which belongs to the group of medicines known as 'kinase inhibitors'. It works by stopping the action of an abnormal protein that causes the multiplication of cancerous cells. In this way, it stops the spread of cancerous cells.

Take GEFFON 250MG TABLET as prescribed by your doctor. You are suggested to take GEFFON 250MG TABLET as long as your doctor has prescribed it after checking your medical condition.  In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as itching or skin rash, acne, nail problems, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

To treat your condition effectually, continue taking GEFFON 250MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Do not take GEFFON 250MG TABLET if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy as GEFFON 250MG TABLET causes serious birth defects. GEFFON 250MG TABLET can be taken without food on an empty stomach at least one or two hours before taking a meal. Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it. Do not drink any liquid other than water to swallow the medicine.

  • Inform Your Doctor: Notify your doctor immediately about your diarrhoea symptoms. This allows them to adjust your medication or provide guidance on managing side effects.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
  • Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.

  • Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
  • Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
  • Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.
