About
DALBAVANCIN is an antibiotic used to treat skin and skin structure infections. A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria enter the body, multiply and cause infection.
DALBAVANCIN contains Dalbavancin, which belongs to the cyclic lipoglycopeptide class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the process of bacterial cell wall synthesis that is required for its survival.
DALBAVANCIN may cause certain common side effects such as injection site reactions, rash, vomiting, allergic reaction, dizziness, headache, flushing, nausea, and diarrhoea. If these side effects persist, contact your doctor immediately. A qualified healthcare doctor will administer the medicine to you. Hence, do not self-administer.
DALBAVANCIN should be avoided if you are allergic to it or other antibiotics. Caution should be exercised, and inform your doctor if you have any history of liver/kidney disease, heart problems, or any other medical conditions. Drug Warnings
Discontinue and inform your doctor if you observe any allergic reactions or if you are known allergic to it or other antibiotics. DALBAVANCIN should be used with caution if you have liver problems, kidney disease, heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia), or electrolyte imbalance (low potassium or magnesium level). If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before receiving DALBAVANCIN. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age as the safety and efficacy is not established. DALBAVANCIN may cause diarrhoea as a side effect. Inform your doctor if it persists for more than four days. However, do not take any anti-diarrheal medicine until your doctor tells you. DALBAVANCIN may cause hypersensitivity reactions and infusion-related reactions. Hence, the patient should be observed for any changes during the treatment.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interactions: DALBAVANCIN may interact with CYP450 substrates (amlodipine, alprazolam, clopidogrel, warfarin), CYP450 inhibitors (amitriptyline, haloperidol, clarithromycin, ketoconazole).
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving DALBAVANCIN as it can cause serious side effects.
