Dolonex Gel belongs to the group of medications known as NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disorders including tenosynovitis, tendinitis, periarthritis, strains, sprains, and low back pain.
Dolonex Gel contains 'Piroxicam' that works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in the body, known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the effect of prostaglandins, Dolonex Gel helps treat mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site.
Dolonex Gel is for external use only. In some cases, Dolonex Gel may cause common side-effects such as mild skin irritation, redness, and itching. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to speak to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Do not use Dolonex Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Dolonex Gel is not recommended for use in children. Stop using Dolonex Gel and consult your doctor immediately if you develop rashes, blisters, peeling of the skin, flu-like symptoms, ulcers in the mouth, nose, throat, connective tissue of the eye or reproductive organs.

Dolonex Gel works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the effect of COX enzymes, fewer prostaglandins are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site.

Musculoskeletal pain: Musculoskeletal pain affects the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. It can be acute or chronic, can be localized or widespread. The pain can be mild or severe enough to interfere with your daily routine. Musculoskeletal pain could occur due to arthritis, osteoporosis, fractures, dislocations, problems with the bone structure or injury to the bones, joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments. Symptoms of musculoskeletal pain include stiffness, swelling, redness, weakness, muscle spasms or twitching, trouble moving the affected area, and soreness.
Arthritis: It is a joint disease in which the two ends of the joints come together due to the breakdown of a protective covering called cartilage.
