Codol 0.9%W/W Oint belongs to the class of topical antibiotics. It is used to treat chronic exuding wounds such as leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and pressure ulcers, as well as infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
Codol 0.9%W/W Oint contains Cadexomer iodine. It has a dual action: cleansing of the wound and bactericidal activity. Cadexomer iodine decreases bacterial count, promotes de-sloughing, absorbs exudates, and keeps the skin moist to aid in the healing of chronic skin ulcers.
Use as directed by the healthcare professional. Sometimes, Codol 0.9%W/W Oint may cause application site reactions such as pain, swelling, redness and irritation. The side effects of Codol 0.9%W/W Oint do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Do not use Codol 0.9%W/W Oint if you are allergic to any of its components. Avoid using Codol 0.9%W/W Oint in more than prescribed doses or for a longer duration as it may cause adverse effects. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you take before taking Codol 0.9%W/W Oint to rule out any side effects. Iodine may cross the placental barrier. Clinical experience of use in pregnant women is limited. Therefore, Cadexomer iodine should not be used in pregnant women. Iodine may be secreted into breast milk. Clinical experience of use in lactating women is limited. Therefore, Cadexomer iodine should not be used in lactating women. Codol 0.9%W/W Oint is not recommended for children below 12 years.
Codol 0.9%W/W Oint contains Cadexomer iodine, which belongs to the class of topical antibiotics (anti-microbial medication). It has a dual action: cleansing of the wound and bactericidal activity. When Codol 0.9%W/W Oint is applied to the wound, it cleans it by absorbing fluids, eliminating pus and debris, and producing a wet gel over the wound surface. It also helps to destroy microorganisms in the wound site. As a result, it aids in wound healing.

Do not use if you are allergic to Cadexomer Iodine or any other ingredients present in Codol 0.9%W/W Oint or if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding mother. Avoid using other topical products/medicines with Codol 0.9%W/W Oint unless prescribed by the doctor. Codol 0.9%W/W Oint is contraindicated to use in patients with known or suspected iodine sensitivity, Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune disorder), Non-toxic nodular goitre (noncancerous enlargement of the thyroid gland), Patients with a history of grave's disease (an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones). Drug-Drug Interactions: Codol 0.9%W/W Oint may interact with certain antimicrobial medications (e.g. taurolidine), mercurial antiseptics (e.g. mercurochrome and thiomersal), and lithium medications.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Codol 0.9%W/W Oint is contraindicated to use in certain disease conditions, including Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune disorder), Non-toxic nodular goitre (noncancerous enlargement of the thyroid gland), Patient with a history of grave’s disease (an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones).
