Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is a fungicidal, bactericidal, and trichomonacidal agent used to treat vaginal infections, including vaginal candidiasis, Gardnerella vaginitis/bacterial vaginosis (bacterial overgrowth in the vagina), trichomonal infections, and vaginal inflammation/vaginitis. It also relieves vaginal soreness, itching, and irritation. Vaginal infection is the infection of the vagina and tissues at the opening of the vagina (vulva). 

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries contains Povidone Iodine that works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidizes essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. It is effective against infections caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, yeast, and protozoa.

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is for vaginal use only. Common side effects of Betadine Vaginal Pessaries include vaginal pain/soreness, burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness in the vaginal area, and vaginal dryness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. If these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

• Use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries as advised by your doctor.
• Lie relaxed on your back. Bend the legs (lifting knees). Gently insert the pessary into the vagina using the index finger. Bring the legs together, stay lying on one side, at least 5 minutes to prevent coming out.
• Discard used material and wash  your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
• In case pessary appears to have softened while in the pack, then keep it in vertical position with pointed end facing down in refrigerator for 15 minutes before using it.
• Pessary should be moistened with water before inserting.
• Not to be taken by mouth. For vaginal administration only.
