Additionally, Zuthixol 200 mg Injection 1 ml may be used in the initial treatment of mania over the short term. Zuthixol 200 mg Injection 1 ml contains Zuclopenthixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behaviour and emotions. Thereby, Zuthixol 200 mg Injection 1 ml helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbed thoughts and behaviour.
Zuthixol 200 mg Injection 1 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience sleepiness, akathisia (inability to sit still or remain motionless), dry mouth, hyperkinesia (involuntary movements), hypokinesia (slow or diminished movements), constipation, muscle pain, tremor, or headache. Most of these side effects of Zuthixol 200 mg Injection 1 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking high blood pressure-lowering medicines (hydralazine, doxazosin, guanethidine, methyldopa, clonidine), antibiotics (erythromycin, moxifloxacin), antimanic drug (lithium), heart-related medicines (quinidine, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, digoxin), hormone (epinephrine), gastroprokinetic agent (cisapride), blood thinner (warfarin), antiemetic (metoclopramide), drugs to treat worm infections (piperazine), antiparkinson drug (levodopa), steroid (prednisolone) or other medicines.
