ZO DROPS 5ML contains ofloxacin, an antibiotic used to treat eye infections caused by bacteria such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. About ZO DROPS 5ML

ZO DROPS 5ML is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

ZO DROPS 5ML contains Ofloxacin, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) that is involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, it kills bacteria and clears infection.

Use ZO DROPS 5ML as prescribed by your doctor. ZO DROPS 5ML is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use ZO DROPS 5ML for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. Most of these side effects of ZO DROPS 5ML do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

If you are allergic to ZO DROPS 5ML or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. ZO DROPS 5ML should be used for children only in doses as advised by the doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using ZO DROPS 5ML. Uses of ZO DROPS 5ML

ZO DROPS 5ML is used in the treatment of bacterial eye infections. The detailed uses of ZO DROPS 5ML are as follows:
• Bacterial eye infections: ZO DROPS 5ML is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye such as conjunctivitis caused by bacteria.
• Corneal Ulcers: ZO DROPS 5ML is also used to treat corneal ulcers, especially those caused by bacterial infections.
• Post-Surgical Infection Prevention: ZO DROPS 5ML may be used to prevent infection after certain eye surgeries like cataract surgery by controlling harmful bacteria in the eye.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
  • Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.
  • ZO DROPS 5ML is for ophthalmic use only. Not for injection.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip or other dispensing tip to any surface since this may contaminate solution.

Use ZO DROPS 5ML as prescribed. The medications may cause the cornea's surface cells to shed, which could irritate the cornea, impair vision, and raise the risk of infection. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Seek immediate medical help if an overdose is suspected.

Drug Warnings

If you are allergic to ZO DROPS 5ML or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. ZO DROPS 5ML should be used for children only in doses as advised by the doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using ZO DROPS 5ML. Drive only if your vision is clear as ZO DROPS 5ML may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. You are advised to remove soft contact lenses before using ZO DROPS 5ML. Do not touch the tip of the container to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate ZO DROPS 5ML and cause eye infections.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Sleep for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours to rejuvenate your eyes naturally.
  • Wash your eyes with clean water at least two to three times a day. Do not wash your eyes if you have undergone any eye surgery for at least 2 weeks. 
  • Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.

You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using ZO DROPS 5ML as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using ZO DROPS 5ML and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using ZO DROPS 5ML. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using ZO DROPS 5ML.

ZO DROPS 5ML may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.

ZO DROPS 5ML is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. ZO DROPS 5ML is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.

You are not recommended to stop using ZO DROPS 5ML without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection. Therefore, use ZO DROPS 5ML for as long as your doctor has prescribed it and if you experience any difficulty while using ZO DROPS 5ML, please consult your doctor.
