About Tyklid 250mg Tablet

Tyklid 250mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called platelet aggregation inhibitors used to lower the risk of stroke in those who have already experienced a stroke, have shown warning symptoms of one, or are not responding well to aspirin treatment. Stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or reduced.

Tyklid 250mg Tablet contains Ticlopidine, which works by preventing the platelets from forming clots. Thereby, it helps reduce the formation of clots and the risk of stroke.

In some cases, Tyklid 250mg Tablet may cause side effects such as diarrhoea, headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

It may also used in combination with aspirin to prevent the formation of blood clots in coronary stents. Tyklid 250mg Tablet contains Ticlopidine, which works by preventing the platelets from forming clots. Thereby, it helps reduce the formation of clots and the risk of stroke.

Directions for Use

Drug Warnings

Do not take Tyklid 250mg Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components; if you have hematopoietic disorders like neutropenia (low white blood cells), thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), a history of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (life-threatening blood disorder), peptic ulcers, intracranial bleeding, or severe liver impairment. Inform the doctor if you have liver disease, bleeding problems, kidney disease, bleeding ulcers, high blood fats, or high blood cholesterol. Tyklid 250mg Tablet may cause a decrease in white blood cells; consult the doctor if you experience fever, sore throat, chills, or other signs of infection. Seek medical attention if you experience fever, anaemia, kidney abnormalities, and neurological changes; these could be the signs of a potentially life-threatening condition known as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Call your doctor immediately if you notice yellowing of the eyes or skin, pale colour, rash, fever, seizures, difficulty speaking, dark urine, or weakness on the side of the body.

What if I have taken an overdose of Tyklid 250mg Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Using more medication will not improve your symptoms; instead, they may cause poisoning or serious side effects. If you suspect that you may have overdosed of Tyklid 250mg Tablet or observe any side effects, please go to the emergency department of the closest hospital or nursing home.

Special Advise

  • Your doctor may advise blood tests prior to initiation of treatment and then every two weeks for the first three months to monitor blood count.
  • Inform the doctor if you are due to undergo surgery, including dental surgery. The doctor may ask you to stop taking Tyklid 250mg Tablet 10-14 days prior to your procedure.
