Tolfen Capsule is used to relieve signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. It contains Polmacoxib, which works by inhibiting the cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in the body that is involved in producing certain chemical substances called prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. Thus, it helps in relieving pain and swelling. In some cases, this medicine may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dizziness, stomach pain, gas, constipation or diarrhoea.

Tolfen Capsule contains Polmacoxib, which works by inhibiting the cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in the body. This enzyme is involved in producing certain chemical substances called prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. Thus, it helps relieve pain and swelling.
Take Tolfen Capsule as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take Tolfen Capsule based on your medical condition. Sometimes, Tolfen Capsule may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dizziness, stomach pain, gas, constipation or diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Tolfen Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to sulphonamides, polmacoxib, aspirin, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, please tell your doctor. Tolfen Capsule is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Tolfen Capsule should be used with caution in patients with diabetes, bronchial asthma, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, history of oedema, peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Tolfen Capsule belongs to a class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to reduce pain, stiffness and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis.
If you are allergic to polmacoxib, aspirin, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, please tell your doctor. Tolfen Capsule is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Tolfen Capsule should be used with caution in patients with diabetes, bronchial asthma, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, history of oedema, peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. Patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure should avoid taking Tolfen Capsule as it may worsen the condition. If you have slurred speech, chest pain, weakness, or shortness of breath while taking Tolfen Capsule , consult a doctor immediately, as these might be symptoms of cardiovascular toxicity. Elderly patients should use Tolfen Capsule with caution as they may be at greater risk for serious gastrointestinal adverse effects such as intestinal or gastric bleeding, perforation and ulceration.
Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking blood thinners (warfarin), antifungal (ketoconazole), corticosteroids, immunosuppressants (tacrolimus, cyclosporine), antimetabolite (methotrexate), antimanic agent (lithium), aspirin or other NSAIDs. Tolfen Capsule should be used cautiously in patients taking diuretics (furosemide, thiazide diuretics) or ACE inhibitors (medicines used to lower high blood pressure).

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Tolfen Capsule if you have a history of asthma, acute rhinitis, nasal polyps, angioedema, urticaria, have uncontrolled high blood pressure, oedema or fluid retention, liver or kidney impairment, active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease, high potassium levels in the blood or blood coagulation disorders.
