About Tefcyte 450mg Tablet

Tefcyte 450mg Tablet is used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection of the retina of the eye in adult AIDS patients. Also, Tefcyte 450mg Tablet is used to prevent CMV infection in patients who received an organ transplant from a donor infected with CMV. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis is a viral infection of the retina (light-sensing cells) caused by cytomegalovirus.

Tefcyte 450mg Tablet contains Valganciclovir which works by getting converted to ganciclovir in the body and inhibits the multiplication of the virus. Thereby, it helps to control the infection.  

Take Tefcyte 450mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Tefcyte 450mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience diarrhea, loss of appetite, cough, headache, stomach pain, nausea, fever, tiredness, or sinusitis (sinus infection). Most of these side effects of Tefcyte 450mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Tefcyte 450mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking Tefcyte 450mg Tablet if you are pregnant, as it may cause birth defects. Men are advised to continue using contraceptive measures for 90 days after treatment with Tefcyte 450mg Tablet. Drive only if you are alert as Tefcyte 450mg Tablet may cause dizziness, tiredness, drowsiness, shakiness or confusion. If you are having blood dialysis or radiotherapy, please inform your doctor before taking Tefcyte 450mg Tablet.

What if I have taken an overdose of Tefcyte 450mg Tablet

Take Tefcyte 450mg Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include upset stomach, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, uncontrolled shaking, seizures, decreased urination, bloody urine, signs of infection (sore throat, fever, chills, cough), excessive tiredness, pale skin, yellowing of skin or eyes, dizziness, fast heartbeat, weakness, and unusual bleeding or bruising. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
