Spegra Tablet is used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children above 12 years weighing at least 40kgs. HIV is a virus that attacks the body's immune system, making it compromised and susceptible to various infections and diseases.
Spegra Tablet contains 'Dolutegravir, Emtricitabine and Tenofovir alafenamide'. Spegra Tablet works by interfering with the work of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase enzymes, which are necessary for the replication of the virus. Together, Spegra Tablet helps in treating HIV infection.

Spegra Tablet is an anti-retroviral drug used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Spegra Tablet works by interfering with the replication of HIV and preventing its further progression. It contains Dolutegravir, Emtricitabine and Tenofovir alafenamide. Dolutegravir works by blocking HIV integrase, which is responsible for integrating viral DNA into the host cell. Thus, it inhibits the integration of the viral component into the human body cells. Emtricitabine works by inhibiting reverse transcriptase, which is responsible for transcribing RNA to DNA. By blocking this action, emtricitabine prevents the proliferation of the virus. Tenofovir alafenamide blocks the enzyme polymerase, thereby preventing aggregation of viral components and terminating the DNA chain, thus effectively nipping viral replication in the bud.

HIV infection: HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system and destroys the white blood cells that help fight infection, making the individual susceptible to other infections or illnesses. People with HIV experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, rash, night sweats, muscle aches, tiredness, and sore throat. These symptoms usually last for days to several weeks. HIV spreads through body fluids such as semen, vaginal fluid, and blood. If left untreated, this condition can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). It is a life-long condition, and there is no definite cure for it. However, it can be controlled by treating it with antiretroviral drugs.
