About Prasuten As Capsule

Prasuten As Capsule is used to prevent the formation of blood clots and avoid the risk of serious heart/blood vessel problems in the future (like heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots in stents). If clots form in blood vessels like arteries, then it could be very dangerous as it may cut off the blood supply, causing a heart attack (myocardial infarction), stroke, or even lead to death. These clots form in the arteries that are responsible for supplying blood to the heart, which eventually reduces the supply of blood to the heart and causes unstable angina (severe chest pain). This medication is usually prescribed to patients who have already had a heart attack or unstable angina or are already being treated with a procedure to open blocked arteries in the heart.

Prasuten As Capsule contains 'Prasugrel' and 'Aspirin' as their active constituents. Prasugrel is an antiplatelet agent that blocks the collection of platelets in the blood cells and so decreases the chance of blood clot formation. Platelets are very small cell particles that keep circulating in the blood. When a blood vessel is damaged, then platelets clump together to help form a blood clot. These antiplatelet effects of Prasugrel also help smooth blood flow throughout the whole body. Aspirin has an antithrombotic action that interferes with platelet functioning and does not let them stick together, thus helping to prevent or reduce blood clots. As a combination medication, Prasuten As Capsule reduces the risk of cardiovascular events like myocardial infarction (heart attack) or stroke in the future, especially in persons who have had heart surgery, known as angioplasty.

Prasuten As Capsule may have common side effects like headache, swelling/oedema, dizziness, skin rash, small red bruises on the skin, and bruising. However, not every person faces these side effects, and even some off-side effects get resolved within a couple of days without any medical attention. However, a person should talk to their doctor if they are experiencing these side effects for a long time.

Prasuten As Capsule cannot be used in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. A person should not stop taking Prasuten As Capsule on their own as it may enhance the risk of heart attack or stroke. consult your doctor before taking Prasuten As Capsule if your weight is less than 60 kg, your age is more than 75 years, or you had a recent severe injury or surgery due to the risk of severe bleeding problems. Prasuten As Capsule can only be used for pregnant or breastfeeding ladies if suggested by the doctor.  Prasuten As Capsule cannot be advised to a person who had a brain stroke, bleeding in the brain, or transient ischemic attack (stroke). A regular check-up of haemoglobin (Hb) level and haematocrit count is necessary for people using Prasuten As Capsule .

Medicinal Benefits

Prasuten As Capsule falls in the category of medicines known as antiplatelet agents used to prevent serious heart/blood vessel problems like heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots in stents by preventing the formation of blood clots. Prasugrel is responsible for inhibiting the accumulation of platelets in the blood cells, which in turn reduces the chance of blood clot formation. Platelets are very small cell particles that keep circulating in the blood and are important for stopping bleeding. When a blood vessel gets damaged, then platelets combine together to help form a blood clot. Aspirin works as an antithrombotic action that affects platelet functioning and does not let them stick together, thus helping to prevent or reduce blood clots. As a combination medication, Prasuten As Capsule reduces the risk of further heart attack or stroke or of dying from one of these atherothrombotic events.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Blood clot and myocardial infarction: Platelets are very small cell particles that keep circulating in the blood. However, when a blood vessel gets damaged, like if it is cut, then platelets stick together to form a blood clot (thrombus) that prevents further outflow of blood or excessive loss of blood. The formation of clots in arteries can cut off the blood supply, leading to heart attack, stroke or death. Clot formation in the arteries that supply blood to the heart may cause reduced blood flow, which could lead to unstable angina (chest pain). Thus, platelets are important for stopping the bleeding. If clots form within a hardened blood vessel like an artery, then they can cut off the blood supply and even cause a heart attack (myocardial infarction), stroke, or death. The formation of clots in arteries also reduces the blood supply to the heart and even causes unstable angina (severe chest pain).
