About Jectophen 1 gm Injection

Jectophen 1 gm Injection belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat severe bacterial infections such as meningitis and typhoid. It should only be used when other antibiotics are not suitable. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Jectophen 1 gm Injection does not work against infections caused by viruses, including colds and flu.
 
Jectophen 1 gm Injection contains ‘Chloramphenicol’ that works by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins which are necessary for vital bacterial functions. Thus, kills the bacteria and helps in treating infection. Jectophen 1 gm Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
 
In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dry mouth and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Jectophen 1 gm Injection. Drink lots of fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in your stools (tarry stools) or if you experience severe diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Jectophen 1 gm Injection is associated with various forms of anaemia (decreased white, red blood cells and platelets). This may lead to loss of immunity and the development of leukaemia in a few people. Consult a doctor if you have any concerns.
