Exulroz-T Tablet 10's

Exulroz-T Tablet 10's is used to treat high blood pressure associated with high cholesterol levels. High blood pressure and high cholesterol levels are two diseases that occur simultaneously in certain patients. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery wall is high. High cholesterol, known as hyperlipidemia or dyslipidemia, occurs when there is an excess of the unhealthy balance of cholesterol in the blood.

Exulroz-T Tablet 10's is a combination of Telmisartan (angiotensin II receptor antagonists) and Rosuvastatin (HMG CoA reductase inhibitors). Telmisartan is a blood pressure-lowering medicine that works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II in the body, which causes the narrowing of blood vessels and leads to high blood pressure. Thereby, it widens and relaxes blood vessels. This lowers high blood pressure. Rosuvastatin is a lipid-lowering medicine that works by blocking liver enzymes  (HMG-CoA-reductase), causing the liver to produce less cholesterol. So, it increases the uptake and breakdown of cholesterol already in the blood by the liver. Thus, Exulroz-T Tablet 10's lowers the levels of lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when lifestyle changes (like a low-fat diet) on their own have failed. Exulroz-T Tablet 10's helps in reducing the ‘bad’ cholesterol LDL (low-density lipoprotein) and increasing the ‘good’ cholesterol  HDL (High-density lipoprotein) by blocking our body’s production of ‘bad’ cholesterol. It also improves your body’s ability to remove it from your blood.

Take Exulroz-T Tablet 10's as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take Exulroz-T Tablet 10's based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience an allergic reaction, low blood pressure (Hypotension), itching of the skin, Steven Johnson syndrome (blistering of skin, mouth, eyes, and genitals), and decreased platelet cell count (thrombocytopenia). Most of these side effects of Exulroz-T Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. It is important to have your lipid profile checked regularly.

Before starting Exulroz-T Tablet 10's, please inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or have undergone a kidney transplant. Renal artery stenosis(narrowing of the blood vessels to one or both kidneys), liver disease, and heart trouble. Do not take Exulroz-T Tablet 10's on your own as self-medication.

Exulroz-T Tablet 10's is used in patients suffering from coexisting Hypertension (High blood pressure) & Hyperlipidemia (High levels of cholesterol). Exulroz-T Tablet 10's improves patient compliance due to ease of dosing.  Telmisartan & Rosuvastatin are the latest drugs among blood pressure and blood cholesterol-lowering drugs, having minimal side effects & more beneficial effects on a patient. Telmisartan lowers blood pressure by blocking switches/receptors of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme II, which is responsible for narrowing the blood vessels and increasing blood pressure. Rosuvastatin, on the other hand, acts by blocking an enzyme in the liver called HMG CoA reductase, which is responsible for the formation of cholesterol at high levels.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Exulroz-T Tablet 10's if you have undergone a kidney transplant. If you have severe respiratory failure, diabetes, thyroid, liver, kidney, or heart problems, raised aldosterone levels (water and salt retention in the body along with imbalance of various blood minerals), or renal artery stenosis(narrowing of the blood vessels in one or both kidneys) or if you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol, inform your doctor before taking Exulroz-T Tablet 10's.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Care should be exercised when Exulroz-T Tablet 10's is administered in combination with warfarin or clopidogrel (blood thinner), fibrates (gemfibrozil, fenofibrate), a medicine used to lower cholesterol (ezetimibe), antacid (aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide), erythromycin, fusidic acid (antibiotic), oral contraceptive pills, regorafenib (anti-cancer), anti-viral or anti-HIV drug (like ritonavir, lopinavir, atazanavir, simeprevir, ombitasvir, paritaprevir, dasabuvir, velpatasvir, grazoprevir, elbasvir, glecaprevir, pibrentasvir) muscle relaxant (tizanidine), antibiotics (trimethoprim), potassium supplements (potassium acetate, potassium acid phosphate, potassium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, potassium citrate, potassium gluconate, potassium iodide, and potassium phosphate).

Drug-Food Interaction: Care should be exercised when Exulroz-T Tablet 10's is taken with grape juice & fish oil. Alcoholic beverages should be avoided with Exulroz-T Tablet 10's. It may interact with potassium salt substitutes and potassium supplements, resulting in hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium in the blood). 

Drug-Disease Interaction: Exulroz-T Tablet 10's should be taken with caution if you have kidney problems, diabetes, thyroid gland problems (hypothyroidism), muscular problems (like rhabdomyolysis, myopathy), blood in the urine (haematuria), and protein in the urine(proteinuria). People with diabetes, cholestasis (liver disease due to the blocked flow of bile), or impaired kidney function should consult a doctor before taking Exulroz-T Tablet 10's.

• Keep your weight under control with a BMI of 19.5-24.9.
• Do regular physical activity or exercise for at least 150 minutes per week or about 30 minutes most days of the week.
• Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, veggies, and low-fat dairy products. 
• Limiting sodium chloride (table salt) intake to 2300 mg per day or less than 1500 mg is ideal for most adults.
• If you are taking alcohol, then only one serving for women and two servings for men is advisable. 
• Quitting smoking is the best strategy to lower the risk of heart disease. 
• Maintain a low-salt diet and minimize eating processed foods, as they contain more sodium. Try to replace salt with spices or herbs to add flavour to the food.
• Do regular exercise, such as cycling, walking, jogging, dancing, or swimming, for a minimum of 30 minutes daily.
• Chronic stress may also cause high blood pressure. Therefore, avoid stress by changing your expectations and reactions to certain situations and making time for yourself to do activities that you enjoy.
• Maintain a diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol intake.

• Do not take Exulroz-T Tablet 10's if you have diabetes or occasional attacks of low blood pressure.
• Do not take it if you are allergic to telmisartan and if you are pregnant.

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): When the blood pressure rises, too much force develops on the lining of the arteries' walls, making the heart work harder to pump blood throughout the body. This results in damage to the blood vessels and heart. If high blood pressure is left untreated, it can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, and eye problems.

Hyperlipidemia: There are two types of cholesterol found in our body, namely good cholesterol (HDL-high-density lipoprotein) and bad cholesterol (LDL-low-density lipoprotein). Good cholesterol is good for our heart and helps reduce bad cholesterol in our body. On the other hand, excess bad cholesterol (LDL) leads to the risk of heart diseases like heart attack and stroke. High cholesterol, known as hyperlipidemia or dyslipidemia, occurs when there is an unhealthy balance of cholesterol in the blood. When there is a high level of cholesterol in the blood, your arteries get narrowed and clogged, finally contributing to heart diseases, like stroke and heart attack. Eating high-fat or high-cholesterol-containing food/drinks and genetic factors are the primary causes of high cholesterol.
