About Wax-GO Ear Drops

Wax-GO Ear Drops is a combination medicine used to treat pain and inflammation associated with ear infections caused by bacteria and fungi. An ear infection occurs when fungi or bacteria affect the middle or outer ear, leading to pain and inflammation. Infection of the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum) is known as otitis media whereas the inflammation of the external/outer ear canal that runs from the eardrum to the outside of the head is known as otitis externa.

Wax-GO Ear Drops contains Chloramphenicol (antibiotic), Clotrimazole (antifungal), Beclomethasone (steroid), and Lidocaine (local anaesthetic). Chloramphenicol kills the bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for the survival of bacteria. Clotrimazole kills the fungi by breaking down the fungal cell wall/protective covering. Beclomethasone reduces inflammation by blocking the chemical messengers that cause inflammation. Lidocaine decreases pain sensation by blocking the pain signals from the nerves to the brain. Together, Wax-GO Ear Drops treats infections of the ear.

Wax-GO Ear Drops is for otic use only. You are advised to use Wax-GO Ear Drops for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness and stinging sensation. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Wax-GO Ear Drops is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Please do not touch the tip of the dropper, as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put cotton into the ear after administration of ear drops. Wax-GO Ear Drops is an otic solution which is to be used only to treat infected ears; do not instil in the eyes.
