Proferix Tablet belongs to a class of 'nutritional supplements,' primarily used to treat iron deficiency anemia and nutritional deficiencies. Iron deficiency anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells due to low iron levels. Nutritional deficiency occurs when the body cannot absorb or get enough nutrients from food.
Proferix Tablet contains Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin), and Zinc. Iron is an essential mineral that aids in producing red blood cells and transporting oxygen to body tissues. Folic acid helps form red blood cells and prevents and treats folate deficiency (low blood levels of folate). Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) helps in the proper functioning of the brain and nerves and the production of red blood cells. Zinc is a mineral that promotes the growth and development of body tissues.
Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, Proferix Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and stomach upset. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.
Before starting Proferix Tablet, brief your medical history to the doctor if you have any heart/kidney/liver diseases, iron overload disorders like hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis, or intestinal problems (ulcer, colitis). It is essential to seek medical advice before starting Proferix Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Drinking alcohol may affect iron absorption; therefore, it is advised to consult your doctor before using Proferix Tablet. Proferix Tablet should be given to children only when advised by the doctor.
Proferix Tablet contains Iron, Folic acid, Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin), and Zinc. Iron is an essential body mineral the red blood cells require to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. Combined with a protein in the blood called haemoglobin, iron helps carry adequate oxygen to various body parts. Folic acid helps in forming red blood cells. It prevents and treats anaemia and folate deficiency. Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) helps in the proper functioning of the brain and nerves and the production of red blood cells. Zinc is a mineral that promotes the growth and development of body tissues.
Brief your medical history to the doctor if you have any allergic reactions to medicines, heart/kidney/liver diseases, iron overload disorders like hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, and intestinal problems (ulcer, colitis) before starting Proferix Tablet. Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking Proferix Tablet. Iron is excreted into the breast milk; hence, consult your doctor before taking Proferix Tablet if you are a breastfeeding mother. Proferix Tablet should be used for children only when suggested by the doctor.

Nutritional deficiency: A nutritional deficiency occurs when the body does not absorb or get enough nutrients from food. This condition occurs when a person's nutrient intake exceeds the body's recommended requirement. It can lead to various health problems, such as a weak immune system, skin problems, digestion problems, defective bone growth, and neurological diseases.
Iron deficiency Anemia is a condition caused by low iron levels in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues. If the body has too little iron, it cannot make enough hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the main protein in red blood cells and carries oxygen throughout the body. Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, dizziness, fast heartbeat, brittle nails, and pale skin.
