Polisitol OD Tablet belongs to the group of vitamins and supplements used in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). A polycystic ovarian syndrome is an endocrine disorder common in women of reproductive age characterized by menstrual abnormalities.

Polisitol OD Tablet contains Cholecalciferol, Folic Acid and Inositol nicotinate. Folic acid improves fertility and reduces the risk of anovulation (absence of ovulation process). Inositol nicotinate improves insulin sensitivity, restores the ovulation process and enhances egg quality. Cholecalciferol helps in ovarian follicular development and luteinization. Together, Polisitol OD Tablet helps in treating PCOS.

Take Polisitol OD Tablet as recommended. In some cases, Polisitol OD Tablet may cause certain common side effects such as stomach pain, nausea and tiredness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. 

Inform the physician if you are allergic to any of the components of Polisitol OD Tablet . Consult your physician if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. It is not known if alcohol affects Polisitol OD Tablet , so consult a doctor before taking alcohol with Polisitol OD Tablet . Keep your physician informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects.

Polisitol OD Tablet is used to treat the polycystic ovarian syndrome. It contains Cholecalciferol, Folic Acid and Inositol nicotinate. Cholecalciferol is an active form of Vitamin D. It helps in improving insulin resistance and exerts a protective effect on blood sugar, thereby easing the metabolic effects of PCOS. A Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to reduced fertility and cholecalciferol supplementation in Polisitol OD Tablet helps counter the same.  Folic acid is an essential ingredient in the production of healthy red blood cells and is very effective in regulating menstruation, which tends to be dysregulated in PCOS. Inositol nicotinate regulates the levels of male sex hormones in the female body and enhances insulin sensitivity. All in all, Polisitol OD Tablet helps in enhancing insulin sensitivity, reducing the symptoms of PCOS (such as facial hair, baldness, abnormal periods) due to a high level of circulating androgens and improving fertility.

Keep your doctor informed if you suffer from any kidney problems, diabetes, phenylketonuria, hypercalcaemia, pernicious anaemia or have been immobilised for some time and if you have any cancer and are on chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Inform the physician if you are a smoker or have had a history of smoking. Also inform if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or if you are breastfeeding.

• Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption. Cut down on smoking. Smoking can have a negative impact on fertility.  
• Load up on meats, fatty fish, oranges, strawberries, sesame seeds, soybean, and pistachios to enhance anti-oxidation and improve fertility.
• Avoid foods containing soy, liquorice (candy), chromium (grape juice) and alcohol as there may be an interaction.
• Increase your fibre intake by eating more fruits, beans, lentils, peas and dry fruits/nuts as this helps combat insulin resistance.
• Keeping your weight in check can go a long mile in helping with PCOS. Maintain a healthy BMI by regular exercise.
• Mind-body balance is also very important in treating the effects of PCOS. Yoga, tai chi, pilates and more holistic exercise regimes can help with maintaining the same.
