About Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm

Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm contains Ofloxacin, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) that is involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, it kills bacteria and clears infection.

Use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. Most of these side effects of Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Directions for Use

This medicine is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids, or surrounding areas, as it may contaminate the product.Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Eye ointment: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.

Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm.
