Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule is an antibiotic medication primarily used to treat diarrhoea, dysentery and stomach infections. Dysentery is an intestinal infection generally lasting for three to seven days, causing severe diarrhoea with blood. Diarrhoea is a condition in which bowel movements are too frequent, leading to loose, watery stools. Acute diarrhoea is a common problem and generally lasts for one or two days, whereas chronic diarrhoea lasts four weeks.

Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule is a combination of two antibiotics, Norfloxacin and Tinidazole, primarily taken to treat diarrhoea, dysentery, and severe stomach infections. Norfloxacin helps by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and, hence, killing the bacteria. Tinidazole kills parasites that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Like all medicines, Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Diarrhoea can cause dehydration, so please increase the intake of fluids. If you have constipation or have blood in stools, do not take Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule. Consumption of alcohol, along with Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule, can cause stomach irritation and increased drowsiness.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule may have interaction with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), anti-coagulant/blood thinner (warfarin), anti-gout (probenecid), antibiotics (azithromycin, sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim, amoxicillin, metronidazole, nitrofurantoin, erythromycin), calcium supplements (calcium/vitamin D), antidiabetics (Glyburide), antiepileptics (Phenobarbital, Phenytoin) and live vaccines (cholera, typhoid).

Drug-Food Interaction: Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule is known to interact with multivitamins, caffeine, dairy products, and multi-minerals.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule is known to interact if taken along with colitis (inflammation of the colon), CNS disorders, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), kidney or liver problems, peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage of the brain), QT interval prolongation, history of tendon rupture, neurological disorders, blood dyscrasia (abnormal disease of blood).

• Diarrhea can cause dehydration, so please increase the intake of fluids.
• Norfloxacin present in Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule is known to cause tendon rupture, so be cautious while taking Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule if you have a tendon rupture history.
• Norfloxacin present in Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as the typhoid vaccine) not to work either. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.
• You must avoid being in the sunlight for too long as Utinox T 400mg/600mg Capsule may make you more sensitive to the sun.
