About Sitawow 50 Tablet

Sitawow 50 Tablet belongs to the group of anti-diabetic medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors) used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is a condition in which blood sugar is too high because the body does not produce or use insulin normally.

Sitawow 50 Tablet contains Sitagliptin, which works by blocking the action of DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) and increases the amount of insulin made by the body. Thus, it helps lower blood glucose levels.

In some cases, Sitawow 50 Tablet may cause side effects such as upper respiratory tract infections, headache, and nasopharyngitis (inflammation of nasal passages). Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to consult the doctor if any side effects persist or worsen.

Do not take Sitawow 50 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Sitawow 50 Tablet is not recommended in children below 18 years. Keep the doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any unpleasant side effects/interactions.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Type-2 diabetes mellitus: Type-2 diabetes mellitus, also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or adult-onset diabetes, is a chronic or lifelong disease that keeps the body from utilizing insulin (a hormone which controls sugar levels in the blood) properly. It is a medical condition in which blood glucose levels are above normal. People with type 2 diabetes either do not produce enough insulin, or the insulin produced cannot perform its function in the body (insulin resistance). Middle-aged or older individuals are most likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes; hence, it is also known as adult-onset diabetes. Type 2 diabetes symptoms include lack of energy, tiredness, frequent urination, excess thirst, dry mouth, blurry vision, constant hunger, weight loss, and itchy skin.
