About Salisia Ds Ointment

Salisia Ds Ointment belongs to a combination medication called dermatological preparations used to treat skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It helps to reduce swelling, itching, and redness and remove dead skin cells. Psoriasis is a chronic (long-term) skin condition in which skin cells multiply faster than normal, resulting in white scales and itchy, dry patches. Eczema is an allergic condition of the skin caused due to bacteria, viruses, or fungi.

Salisia Ds Ointment contains Dithranol (antipsoriatic drug), Salicylic acid (peeling agent and anti-inflammatory), and Coal tar (keratolytic agents). Dithranol, also known as Anthralin, is an antipsoriatic drug that works by slowing down the production of skin cells. Salicylic acid and Coal tar are keratolytic agents that work by breaking down a protein known as keratin (that forms part of skin structure) which removes dead skin cell, peel dead cells of the skin, and softens skin.

Use Salisia Ds Ointment as instructed by the doctor. Salisia Ds Ointment is only for external use. Avoid contact of Salisia Ds Ointment with normal skin, nose, mouth, eyes, skin folds, or genitals. In case Salisia Ds Ointment comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Some people may experience skin irritation or staining of the skin. Most of these side effects of Salisia Ds Ointment do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Salisia Ds Ointment or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Salisia Ds Ointment. Do not use Salisia Ds Ointment in more than recommended doses, on large areas of the body, or for a prolonged time as it may cause adverse effects. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with dressings or bandages unless advised by a doctor. Avoid contact of Salisia Ds Ointment with clothes, skin, or hair as it may stain them. Do not apply Salisia Ds Ointment on open wounds, windburned, sunburned, chapped, irritated, or dry skin. Please do not spend a long time in direct sunlight as it can lead to easy sunburn making. If you have acute or pustular psoriasis, unstable psoriasis, diabetes, kidney, liver, or blood circulation problems, inform your doctor before taking Salisia Ds Ointment.

Uses of Salisia Ds Ointment

Treatment of Psoriasis, Eczema.

Medicinal Benefits

Salisia Ds Ointment is a combination of three drugs: Dithranol, Salicylic acid, and Coal tar used in the treatment of psoriasis (scales and itchy, dry patches). Dithranol, also known as Anthralin, is an antipsoriatic drug that slows down skin cells' production by inhibiting DNA (genetic material) replication in these cells and stops their growth and multiplication. Thus, it reduces the scaling and thickening of the skin and clears up psoriasis plaques. Salicylic acid and Coal tar are keratolytic agents that break down a protein known as keratin (that forms part of skin structure) and remove or peel off the dead skin cells and soften skin. Also, coal tar possesses anti-inflammatory properties and helps in reducing itching and redness.

Directions for Use

Salisia Ds Ointment is only for external use. Avoid contact of Salisia Ds Ointment with normal skin, nose, mouth, eyes, skin folds, or genitals.
