RISOFOS KIT TABLET

RISOFOS KIT TABLET is indicated in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. It helps reduce the risk of bone fractures. Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a condition that occurs in women after menopause. In this condition, the bones become weaker, more fragile, and more likely to break after a fall or strain.

RISOFOS KIT TABLET contains Risedronate sodium, Calcium and Cholecalciferol. It works directly on the bones to make them stronger and, therefore, less likely to break.

In some cases, RISOFOS KIT TABLET may cause side effects like indigestion, nausea, headache, diarrhoea, and constipation. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Do not take RISOFOS KIT TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. RISOFOS KIT TABLET is not recommended for children below 18 years as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Keep the doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any interactions/side effects.

RISOFOS KIT TABLET belongs to the group of medications called bisphosphonates used to treat post-menopausal osteoporosis. RISOFOS KIT TABLET contains Risedronate sodium, Calcium and Cholecalciferol. Risedronate sodium makes the bones stronger and therefore less likely to break. Calcium supports bone building and cholecalciferol aids calcium absorption. Together, RISOFOS KIT TABLET helps treat osteoporosis.

Do not take RISOFOS KIT TABLET if you are allergic to any of its components, if you have hypocalcaemia (low blood calcium levels), hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium levels), hypercalciuria (high calcium level in the urine), hypervitaminosis D (high blood vitamin D levels), severe kidney problems or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform the doctor if you are unable to stand/sit upright for at least 30 minutes, have abnormal bone mineral absorption (lack of vitamin D or parathyroid hormone abnormalities), problems with your oesophagus, sarcoidosis (a disorder mainly affecting the lungs), if you are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or if you are taking corticosteroids. Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms of thigh bone fracture (pain, weakness or discomfort in the thigh, hip or groin blood calcium level), or osteonecrosis/bone necrosis of the external auditory canal (ear pain, discharge from the ear, and/or an ear infection). Let the doctor know if you take other medicines, including supplements or herbal products.

Drug-Drug interaction: Inform the doctor if you are taking cardiac glycosides (digitalis), antibiotics (rifampicin), medicines to reduce inflammation or prevent organ transplant rejection (cortisone), medicines used to strengthen tooth enamel or to treat osteoporosis (sodium fluoride), thiazide diuretics, lipid-lowering agents (cholestyramine), laxatives, antacids, antiepileptics (phenytoin), or thyroid hormones.

• Eat a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
• Do walking, weight-bearing and strength-training exercises.
• Include fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet.
• Limit intake of caffeine.

• Your doctor may advise dental check-ups before the start of the treatment.
• Inform the doctor that you are taking RISOFOS KIT TABLET if you are due to undergo dental treatment or dental surgery.

Postmenopausal osteoporosis: Postmenopausal osteoporosis occurs in women after menopause when the bones become weaker, more fragile, and likely to break after a fall or strain. Postmenopausal women are more likely to develop osteoporosis than men because, at menopause, women's ovaries stop producing oestrogen (a female hormone) that is essential to keep bones healthy. Following menopause, bone loss occurs, weakening bones and making them more likely to break. Signs and symptoms include back pain caused by a fractured or collapsed vertebra, loss of height over time, a stooped posture, and bones that break much more easily than expected.
