About Norbetol Injection

Norbetol Injection belongs to the group of anti-hypertensive medicines called beta-blocking agents used to treat severe hypertension (high blood pressure). Additionally, Norbetol Injection is used to control high blood pressure in pregnancy and during anaesthesia.

Norbetol Injection contains ‘labetalol’ that works by blocking the receptors in the cardiovascular (circulatory) system, this helps in decreasing the blood pressure in the blood vessels. Thus, it helps lower the blood pressure to normal.

In some cases, Norbetol Injection may cause common side effects such as postural hypotension, dizziness, fatigue, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Norbetol Injection is not recommended for children below 18 years as efficacy and safety have not been established. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects/interactions.

Disease/Condition Glossary

High blood pressure (hypertension): It is a condition that causes hypertension by putting more pressure on the blood vessel walls. Hardened blood vessels (arteries) caused by this condition may reduce the amount of blood and oxygen reaching the heart. High blood pressure can result in heart attacks and angina (when the blood supply to the heart is blocked). Furthermore, stroke-related brain damage and kidney failure are also brought on by high blood pressure. Headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness, and dyspnea are all signs of high blood pressure (shortness of breath). The majority of the time, hypertension does not have any symptoms or signs.
